Devlog the fourth


Hello, we are still alive and working. Unfortunately we can't tell you many details (S P O I L E R S) but here's a quick rundown of our latest achievements:

  • Created a cohesive (and hopefully) interesting story for the first level.
  • Established the main NPCs/witnesses/suspects of the first case (short backstory, sprites and portraits).
  • Agreed on some details about the gameplay (important items to collect, puzzle ideas already decided, and potential ideas for minigames depending on the time available).
  • Finally added the (previously chosen) sprites of the protagonists with their walking animations.
  • Implemented the layer system that allows the ghost to go through the furniture (and made sure the detective can't do that).
  • Fixed some bugs (characters could see each other while in different rooms, and when they collided they would get stuck).

A lot of very interesting ideas came up in this process, so it's going to be difficult to decide what to prioritize. In any case, we are satisfied with several things already. Wish us luck!
